Product Details

The Model 161 high‑head effluent pump is engineered for performance in demanding residential and commercial wastewater environments, including onsite septic systems, pressure‑dose networks, and enhanced‑flow STEP applications. Its durable cast‑iron construction and corrosion‑resistant components ensure long‑lasting operation.

Powered by a 1/2 HP permanent split capacitor motor, the Model 161 uses an oil filled cooling system to provide excellent thermal stability and prevent overheating during extended duty cycles. The pump features a non clogging cast iron vortex impeller capable of passing 3/4 inch spherical solids, reducing downtime caused by blockages.

Model 161 is offered in both 1 phase and 3 phase configurations, with voltage options ranging from 115V to 460V, giving installers flexibility for a wide range of system designs. Automatic models use preset on/off float points, while nonautomatic units integrate seamlessly with variable level float systems or external control panels for precise dosing. Automatic models are not suitable for septic tank effluent. The Model 161 also includes double seal variants (4161) for environments requiring added protection against seal failure.

Delivering up to 56 feet of head and 100 gallons per minute, the Model 161 provides the high pressure capability needed for LPP and long run effluent lines. Every unit is 100% factory tested to its published performance curve and protected by Zoeller’s limited warranty, ensuring confidence at installation and for years of service.

Features and Benefits
  • Oil-filled motor and cast iron motor housing for optimal heat dissipation which prevents the pump from overheating
  • Designed for flexibility in engineered effluent systems—automatic units utilize fixed on/off float levels for controlled dosing, while nonautomatic pump versions integrate with external float systems or control panels, enabling precise pump cycling based on basin sizing or field‑set requirements.
  • Corrosion resistant cast iron vortex impeller to allow free passage of 3/4" spherical solids which prevents clogging and increases reliability
  • Models with a snap‑action switch feature an integrated float guard to keep debris from obstructing the float. Nonautomatic pumps do not include a float guard and require external float protection if needed.
  • Available in multiple operating configurations, including a snap‑action automatic model, a nonautomatic model made automatic with an included piggyback float switch, or a nonautomatic version without a piggyback switch that requires an external float or control panel for operation.
  • Powder-coated epoxy finish provides corrosion-resistance and extends the life of the pump in harsh environments
  • Stainless steel screws, handle, and hardware to prevent rust and corrosion
  • 100% Factory Tested - every pump is submerged in water and tested at the factory to ensure that it performs as expected when you receive it
  • Comes with a 1-year limited warranty giving you protection over your investment and the peace of mind you expect in a quality product
